Ted on Tour - Updated 3rd Sept TED VISITS AUSTRIA, DORSET AND NEW YORK!

''Once upon a time there was a beautiful Bear who was chosen to do a very special job, and that was to help raise lots of money for all the children and babies in a wonderful place called Zöes Place Baby Hospice.

Now Ted LOVED it at the Hospice but, being a very curious little chap, he had a secret longing to travel the world. His favourite pastime was dreaming about the magical places he had heard people speak of, and as he looked out of the Hospice window each night, he wished upon a star that one day he would be lucky enough to have his own adventures in the big wide world....''

Zöes Place Baby Hospice would love to hear all about YOUR Zöes Bears adventures! For  JUST £5 you can purchase one of our special bears, email us your photographs of him on his jolly hols, and we can share the photos with everyone on our website..

Whether he’s  taking in the sights of Paris at the top of the Eiffel Tower, sunbathing in Spain, or picnicking on the sands of Seaton Carew, please tell us all about his travels!

If you are a teacher why not buy a Bear for your class and each child can take a turn at taking Ted somewhere special – you could even keep a Journal to share his stories with the other children.

Every photo we receive will be featured on our website and there will be a SPECIAL PRIZE for the BEST photograph!

To purchase a bear please send us a £5 cheque payable to ''Zöes Place'' , contact Sue Fox on sue@zoesplace.org or alternatively call into our Reception and collect him yourself!           See the 1st of Teds' adventures below!

Our first Zöes Bear to reach foreign shores has made it to the beautiful island of Nevis in the West Indies.

Taken there by one of our Hospice staff, he met a very special little girl called Lekiah, who didn't have a bear of her own and welcomed him with lots of cuddles and love. He liked it there so much he's decided to make Nevis his forever home!

We can't wait to see where our next Bear is going to turn up - please send us your photos as soon as possible!

Ted Makes The News!! TEESSIDE 17th May 08

Our Ted is becoming so famous his story has hit the local paper. Taken from the Evening Gazette, Saturday May 17th, you can read the article below:

''Teesside Ted Bear aiming to raise hospice funds''

TEESSIDE Ted Bear is on tour for the summer - and popping up at all the holiday hot spots worldwide.

Ted has a passport to travel and is using it to cross borders to get up to all sorts of cracking adventures.

He may be everyone’s idea of a serious softie, but the furry crusader won’t be swayed from his vital mission.

Armed with only his warm woolly jumper and trusty case, Ted is flying off round the globe to raise money for Zoe’s Place baby hospice in Normanby.

The idea came to Ted after hospice director Joan Stainsby invited one of his mates to fly off to the beautiful island of Nevis in the West Indies.

A special little girl called Lekiah loved the bear so much, he decided to stay with her forever.

Since then Ted’s been photographed in York, at the Tower of London and hospice supporters Tegan and Jenna took him for a day out in Dumfries.

“We hope lots of people will buy a Ted Bear of their own and take him on holiday with them,” said Sue Fox of Zoe’s Place.

“The idea is to raise money for the hospice — and have fun by posting a photo of him on holiday with them on our website.”

Sue says the bears with their Zoe’s Hospice jumpers can’t wait to go on tour.

“They don’t have to go abroad — we’re as happy to see Ted enjoying himself on a day out as sunning himself on a tropical beach.”

Zoe’s Place is hoping to sell lots of the £5 bears to bring in much-needed funds for the hospice, which cares for babies and children up to the age of five who have life-threatening or limiting illnesses.

Recently it added two new rooms with cots to the four already at the hospice and the 10-inch tall bears will help fund them.

“It costs £700,000 a year to run Zoe’s,” said Sue who is hoping to see lots of photos of Ted on the website.

“Whether he’s taking in the sights of Paris, sunbathing in Spain or picnicking at Seaton Carew, we want to see the snaps.”

BUY a £5 Ted Bear by visiting Zoe’s Place in Normanby; contact Sue Fox on sue@zoesplace.org or phone 01642 457985; or send a £5 cheque.''

A big thanks to Barbara Argument for covering the story!
