Why you should help
We aim to provide specialist nursing care for individual children whilst simultaneously providing some much needed respite care for the parent/carers to have a break. This may be so that they can do the ordinary things that we take for granted such as doing the weekly shop, spending quality time with their other children or just having some time for themselves. This care is accessed free of charge by the families we help. However it currently costs in excess of £700,000 each year to run our 6 cot unit.
In line with other Children's Hospices in the UK we receive a very small amount of funding from local Primary Care Trusts, however , the majority of our funds come from donations from local businesses, organisations and members of the public. Fund raising events and people leaving gifts in their wills to support our vital work is essential to the on-going success of the Hospice.
